Last May 9, I came back to Central Philippine University my college alma mater to join The Curiosity Tour conducted by C. McNair Wilson. It was spearheaded by the university and the Embassy of the United States of America. A seasoned motivation speaker who has worked with Disney in creating their theme parks, the speaker discussed some points about self-esteem, motivation and group dynamics. Most of the attendees were professionals from all sorts of fields and some students. I was actually surprised that the majority of the attendees were not from the university.
1. Questions- great tool for creativity
2. 4 habits of creative people- take risks, challenge the assumptions, stay curios and see differently
3. In being creative, always use your senses
4. Assume Brilliance!
5. In brainstorming, start a fire, use critical thinking, say Yes and listen…, don’t block, ask for more and be wild!
He also asked us the following questions:
1. What do you do best?
2. Do you do it all the time?
3. Do people benefit from it?
I really felt great coming back to the university that I have considered my second home for the past several years and listening to positive words shared by someone who has been motivating people around the globe. Wilson will be bringing this tour to the other parts of the country as well. He also has a blog entitled Tea with McNair. Feel free to check it out. I was glad to see videos in his site.
The speaker who was a first-time visitor to Iloilo praised the city for having sumptuous seafood and the Government for spearheading the clean-up operation of the Iloilo River, bringing progress and growth to the city and making changes for the lives of the Ilonggos. He also looks forward to conducting a seminar at the Iloilo Convention Center once it is completed.
Executive Assistant to the Mayor Ariel Catañeda presented the I am Iloilo shirt and Dagoy Doll of the Dinagyang Festival to Wilson.
