Capiz Day Tour

Every now and then our family goes to Capiz because it’s my mother’s homeland and we have a lot of relatives there. We traveled from Iloilo City going north to the province first in the towns of Panitan town and Panay where the Sta. Monica Church is located towards the capital, Roxas City. This is actually my second time to visit the old and magnificent centuries-old church that boasts of having the biggest bell in Asia (for a Christian church).

During my first trip along with fellow Philippine Travel Bloggers years ago, we climbed up and enjoyed the mesmerizing view of the town surrounding the bell tower. The historic bell itself is so huge that a few people can fit inside it. It was made from coins and other possessions of the townsfolk way back then during the Spanish colonization period. With our kasimanwas’ hard labor, sweat, blood and tears, this church and the bell was forged and built. There museum beside the church houses some old and original parts of the church.
