Roxas City, Capiz

Welcome to the Seafoods Capital of the Philippines, the Province of Capiz. My most recent trip nearby was at its capital- Roxas City. The city was named after it’s son, the former President Manuel A. Roxas who served the Commonwealth and the Republic of the Philippines in the late 1940’s.

The Parish of Immaculate Concepcion Metropolitan Cathedral (above) is located within the city center near
the Provincial Capitol (below).

The City Bridge built in 1910 stands above the Panay River.
One can go around the city and to other destinations nearby by riding the city’s major mode of transportation – the tricycle. The minimum fare is P8.00.

Panubli-on, the Roxas City Museum was once a water tank. It was built in 1910 and was used as a tank for more than 30 years.
