The restoration for the Javellana Heritage building that was built in 1922 has finally begun. I’m very much excited with this development since even up to now it is still one of the most important heritage structure with the Old Calle Real or now J.M. Basa street of Iloilo City. For decades the first floor has somehow been well maintained compare to the other buildings since it has tenants like Jollibee, Roberto’s, Carlo’s bakeshop, Sarabia pawnshop and jewelry and etc., but a great part of the building’s second floor is simply in a sorry state.
Once this building’s renovation gets completed, I hope that it will still be preserved and protected for the next generations of Ilonggos to see and marvel upon our history.
Updates of the renovation in this post.
UPDATE as of September 2013:
The 2 Photos of the completed renovation were taken by Mr. Brigs Maravillo of Discover Panay Island.
